FM26 Release Date Confirmed

The wait is finally over for Football Manager fans. Sports Interactive has confirmed that Football Manager 2026 will officially launch worldwide on 4 November 2025, marking the series’ long-awaited return after last year’s unexpected hiatus.

FM26 represents a major milestone for the franchise, as it makes the leap to the Unity engine for the very first time. The switch promises a refreshed and more immersive managerial experience, complete with a redesigned user interface and upgraded matchday visuals. Expect more drama and spectacle on the pitch than ever before, with new volumetric animations bringing real-world authenticity to life.

As was the plan with FM25, Football Manager 2026 will also introduce women’s football to the series. Seamlessly integrated into the existing ecosystem, it offers players the chance to manage within one connected footballing world, backed by an extensive database and a growing list of licensed competitions.

The release will be staggered across platforms. PC, Mac, Xbox, PS5, and Mobile (via Netflix) will all launch on 4 November, while Nintendo Switch users can expect Football Manager 2026 Touch to arrive digitally on 4 December 2025. Sports Interactive has also confirmed that, despite the jump to a new engine, players will still be able to carry over their saves from FM23 and FM24 — a welcome addition for long-term managers. You can see more about system requirements for FM26 in our dedicated guide.

Studio director Miles Jacobson described FM26 as a “landmark release” for the franchise, highlighting the hard work that went into rebuilding the game’s foundations after FM25 was cancelled due to the complexities of the engine shift. “Setting Sports Interactive up for the next 20 years and beyond was an enormous undertaking,” Jacobson said. “FM26 represents our quest to deliver football management perfection, and we can’t wait for players to experience it.”

Pre-orders for FM26 are now live on PC and Mac via SEGA-approved digital retailers. Early adopters will benefit from a 10% discount, and those who purchase ahead of launch will also receive Advanced Access — allowing them to begin their managerial careers up to two weeks early, with progress carrying over into the full game.

After a year without a new instalment, the countdown is officially on. With a host of new features, a brand-new engine, and the historic arrival of women’s football, Football Manager 2026 looks set to be one of the most exciting entries the series has ever seen.

Early Access, Editions, and What to Expect Before Launch

As anticipation builds for Football Manager 2026, many fans are already planning how and when they will dive into the game. One of the most popular ways to get a head start is through the FM26 Beta, which offers early access to nearly all core features ahead of the official release. Available to those who pre-order from approved digital retailers, the Beta typically launches two weeks before the full game and allows players to begin their saves early. Progress made in the Beta will carry over seamlessly into the full release.

This early access window is more than just a preview. It is also a chance for the community to help fine-tune the game. Sports Interactive encourages Beta players to report bugs and feedback via the official forums, which contributes to a smoother launch experience for everyone. If you are planning a long-term save, starting in the Beta is a smart move. It allows you to establish your squad and tactics before the full player base joins.

FM26 will be available in several editions tailored to different playstyles. The Standard Edition on PC and Mac delivers the most in-depth experience, complete with full database editing, custom content support, and detailed tactical tools. Console Edition, designed for Xbox and PlayStation, offers a streamlined interface optimized for gamepad use and faster progression. This is ideal for players who prefer shorter sessions. FM26 Touch returns for Nintendo Switch users on 4 December and provides a more accessible version of the game that retains core management mechanics in a portable format.

With the Premier League licence officially secured, FM26 will feature authentic kits, badges, and competition branding for England’s top flight. This adds another layer of immersion, especially when paired with the game’s visual upgrades and new matchday presentation.

As launch day approaches, players are encouraged to prepare by checking system requirements, updating drivers, and backing up FM24 data if they plan to import custom graphics or skins. Whether you are managing from the dugout on PC or the sofa with a controller, FM26 is shaping up to be the most versatile and immersive Football Manager yet.
